REMINSCENCES OF OLD STONE CHURCH by
Richard Kent Streeter
__The
150-year old landmark in NW Georgia (on National Register of Historic
Places) gives a "first person account" of events that
actually happened to people who lived in the Southeastern U.S. long
ago -- Indian chiefs; Indian and white politicians; Union and Confederate
soldiers; businessmen and families.
__What the U.S. and Georgia did to
take over Indian lands is told, as well as what happened on the
first roads passing by. There are Civil War stories about the Union
soldiers who stole a train behind Confederate lines; one about Confederate
General Cleburne and "The Battle of Ringgold Gap; one about
Union Generals Grant and Sherman, and the "Campaign For Atlanta
Began Here."
__Chronology of historical events plus
driving tour and bibliography. Photos and illustrations.
